...opens this Thursday at Goodspeed. Anyone going? It does seem like a fine cast:
Matt Bogart (Paul Claudel)
Rita Gardner (Madame Claudel)
Linda Eder (Camille Claudel)
Michael Nouri (Auguste Rodin)
Milo O’Shea (Monsieur Claudel)

No official reviews yet...but the backdoor news is that it's pretty decent and Linda Eder is very good as Camille. The power outage made the air-cond. die for the first Act, but the show operated on generator power. Details are sketchy.
I'm sure I'll get a better report tomorrow when my friends return from Conn.

Posted: 8/15/03 at 11:14pmI'm assuming she must be. The show was pretty much built up around her starring in it. And she does have an excellent voice.

I am biased b/c I'm a Linda fan, but everything I've heard about CC is that it's very passionate and well done. Granted, this is the first run with it and it's considered "a work shop" to iron out the wrinkles, it sounds like there are very few wrinkles even this early in the run. I also hear that Linda has a fairly large amount of speaking lines and it sounds as if she is doing well with them. It's been reported that she worked really hard for this role and many of the people I've talked to say that when she is on stage she IS Camille.
I'm eagerly awaiting it's arrival on Broadway!!

Posted: 8/16/03 at 6:29pmThe best description I ever heard of Linda Eder was a comparison to Streisand. Eder has a phenominal voice & was described as Streisand without the eccentricities & attitude problems. met her after a J/H performance & she was very nice & down to earth. No limo. After she signed for everyone she just walked away

Posted: 8/17/03 at 3:35pmI am sure she has matured since JH. It was a few years now. I agre with how humble and sweet Linda is. She has always taken whatever time is needed to greet her fans. And she does not mind signing all you cd's (like she did with me).....She is a wondeful person. And every time I hear, If I Had My Way. I still think of the concert she did for the holidays in NYC and it was so amazing. I cried.

I am really looking forward to seeing this show when it comes to Broadway. I'm sure that Linda is going to be amazing.
I highly recommend that everyone see the French movie starring Isabelle Adjani about Claudel's life. It was so tragic and moving to watch Adjani channel Camille's anguish and descent into madness. Now THAT was an acting tour de force.
