Hello guys and Happy New Year I am currently studying A-Level Theatre Studies, and for my next assessed unit, I have to perform a 2 minute monologue, we are doing a comedy play for are assessed play, so I would like to do a serious monologue (Preferbably touching on adult issues) For those who dont know I'm a 16 year old caucasian male-ish and i dont really have a strong accent, just regular from Southampton! The coditions say it has to be from a PLAY, which I can get a copy of the FULL script. So, if anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!
I am doing exactly the same course and axactly the same unit atm Con haha! how strange.
I'm doing one from Spring Awakening, cause i researched it last year, so it was easiest choice :P i'm doing Moritz's monologue before he kills himself, i've just gotta try and get through it in 2minutes! eek
there's loads out there, you just have to do a bit of googling!
Long long ago when I did a few comedy nights, the piece I did to mic check with was from Hedwig and the Angry Inch, when Hedwig describes when she first meets Tommy Speck between "Wig in a Box" and "Wicked Little Town." It's a great piece because of how sharply it walks the dramedy edge.
Don't know yet, they've narrowed it down to 3, but they're giving us 2weeks of lesson time for our monolgues, then we'll start the play then! i've had to fill out a load of forms to perform my piece, because it requires me to burn a letter, with a match, and i had to get all this permission and stuff haha :P what a joke!
Tell me about it, for a piece with my local Am Dram we did a production of Teechers, and in one scene we wanted to set fire to some text books in a metal bin, so fairly controlled, and we would even have fire marshal's on site, less than 10 meters away, but in the end they decided against it, we're doing Grim Tales, let me know what your doing and how it goes!
i love it :) its bloody hard work, but all A Levels are. Go for it, you'll enjoy it, and its always nice to have time in your week when you're up doing something instead of sitting behind a desk!
I personally love it, however I am the only one in my class who does. My Secondary school, like most, does Drama/Theatre Studies GCSE, which really sets you up for the A-Level, however, EVERYONE else in my class did Expressive Arts GCSE, which is 10000000% different to theatre studies, so if you've done Drama/Theatre Studies GCSE and coped and enjoyed it, you should like the A-Level, but if you did a different GCSE, BE WARNED IT IS HARD WORK AND MUCH MORE WRITTEN THAN YOU WILL BE EXPECTING!
