I know, its a wierd question but I was curious if anyone knew. Thanks in advance.
Well, if it happens in the middle of a song...could be devastating...
Sorry, I couldn't resist... this question just hit my funny bone.
You know that's a recurring nightmare I have? Sad, but true...

It can be harmful to singers, but not as harmful as farting is to dancers.
LOL
i think its more harmful if one tries to supress ones bodily functions

some of us have done it on stage before.
I got the hiccups in the middle of a show once...wasn't fun.
Loose Bowels must be a challenge as well.

Honestly, it's a normal bodily function... I can't imagine it would be harmful.
Now if you're forcing yourself to get out wall-rattling burps for sh!ts and giggles... well that's another story lol

What about a singer with really bad reflux???? Watch out if you are in the front row!
if burping causes damage towards singing, im screwed =)
ohhhhh dancers and farting..Palease..go to Broadway Dance Center during crunches you will hear true music then with some people.

as a singer, I can tell you that burping alone is not harmful - it's that acid that will hurt you - this is why so many singers have to be careful about what they eat before shows....
burping during performance is not uncommon (nor is farting) they are natural bodily functions that cannot be avoided - especially on 2 show days with a short turn-around between shows) so you learn to eat things that digest quickly and don't leave to much acidic residue
but - every now and then - there will be an ensemble member or a dancer that just can't resist that mexican dish!! Whoo - Hoo ... fun onstage
