Cannot believe I'm asking this

If The Ten Commandments: The Musical had been a success (and I am more than aware that it is a bad musica. I have seen the DVD), would we have seen more transfers of French musicals?

French musicals such as....?

re: Cannot believe I'm asking this

Les Miz was a French musical and that certainly didn't cause a tidal wave.

And the reason is ....

Musicals (as we know them) are not a particularly popular theatrical form in France. There simply aren't that many that get produced.

It's a different version of Gone With The Wind though.

This Gone With The Wind featured pop music, aerial acrobatics, choreography worthy of Twyla Tharp and a plot like a checklist.

No. They taped the show and a DVD has been released commercially.

If the French pop musical spectacles were ever going to take off in the US, it would have started with the most popular of them all, Notre Dame de Paris, which bombed in Las Vegas.

I do like Ali Baba, however.

This Gone With The Wind featured pop music, aerial acrobatics, choreography worthy of Twyla Tharp and a plot like a checklist.

You do realize that "choreography worthy of Twyla Tharp" is actually a huge compliment, right?

re: Cannot believe I'm asking this

I guess. I mean, I loved her choreography in Hair but the choreography in Gone With The Wind (not to mention the music) looks extremely out of place.

I was thinking the same thing, Mister Matt. Don't forget that Romeo and Juliet bombed in London as well.

I actually like the scores of some of these shows and wish more of them were on iTunes. But the physical productions are a joke. Very few of them resemble something close to a traditional musical.

there is an english version of ROMEO AND JULIET as well, though.

it's a rock opera written by Terrance Mann.

Yeah, but that's a different show too.
