"Carol Kane Brings Morrible to Broadway"
I read that wrong, and thought you said "Caleb Kane."
Jeez. I was happy...

First of all, Carol Kane is great as Morrible. Saw her in L.A. She did a terrific job. A little short physically. I guess I think Morrible should have more stature. But her acting was first-rate in all the scenes, and I was very pleased by her "arch" in the character.
Second of all, Carol sang the part... she didn't talk it, as had been discussed before. She sang it every bit as much as Carole Shelley did. I'm puzzled about that whole discussion.
She wanted to sing it... the director told her to speak it... she SANG it when I saw it, and it was fine. (She's not any more of a singer than Carole Shelley was, but no matter, it works for the part.)

I saw Carol Kane in Los Angeles too. She took a really great approach to the role. Kane introduced Morrible as if she was the standard goofy comic relief character that we shouldn't put too much stock in. Then, slowly, she reveals her darker more sinister ambitious nature. A really top notch acting feat.
