Broadway's Fantine, Randy Graff, wasn't nominated for a Tony Award. (She won a few years later for City of Angels). Judy Kuhn (Cosette) and Frances Ruffelle (Eponine) were nominated, with Ruffelle winning.
Linda Woolverton, who wrote the book and the original screenplay for Beauty and the Beast, was a co-screenwriter for The Lion King movie, but not the stage version. While some of her work remained on Aida, Robert Falls and David Henry Hwang rewrote a lot of it.

The clarification about Linda Woolverton misses the point, i.e. she wasn't fired as a writer on Aida as an earlier poster claimed.
Since Beauty and the Beast is still triumphant on Broadway in its 12th year, and the reworked Aida directed by Robert Falls closed after 4 years, I think it's worth giving the benefit of the doubt to this team.
Either way, let's see how it unfolds without knocking it before anything has been seen of it...
