Posted: 6/5/03 at 6:00pmI hope they rework it a bit for next year. I like that she has broadway folk on, but I wish she would have them peforming in costume once and a while. They should make the Broadway numbers a regular feature. And whatever happened to her "Broadway baby" segments. She said it would be a regular feature, but they only had Kate Levering on and then no one else.

The show could be improved, but it doesn't really need to be to stay alive.
Caroline needs to connect with the audience (in the studio and at home) better. Rosie made us feel like we were her friends. She shared self experiences (humorous and dramatic), home-made movies, etc. Caroline just...hosts. She needs to let loose or be let go!

Posted: 6/6/03 at 6:22amIt used to cost the shows upwards of $15,000 to do those staged segments on Rosie. Wonder if the fact that Caroline Rhea's show does not have the same good clearances (or ratings) as Rosie would make producers balk at paying the price.

Posted: 6/6/03 at 8:03amLet's not forget that Rosie did not start doing those things until well into her 2nd/3rd season. I never really even watched Rosie's show before season 3! And I'm sure the budget is also a factor.

Posted: 6/6/03 at 9:29amBudget is probably a big factor. I commend Caroline for trying -- she's got some big shoes to fill after Rosie. Yes, it's true Rosie wasn't doing the Broadway segments on her first season... but before that she was still quite a hit -- it was a show that kids could watch with their parents and grandparents. And that was what she was aiming for. I think Caroline just needs to figure out what her objective is -- what she wants to achieve with hosting this show -- and she will be fine. She *does* have the potential for greatness I think.

Posted: 6/6/03 at 12:55pmDon't get me wrong, I love caroline and Chris Botti, but she eats up a lot of airtime talking about her crush on him and squeezing every joke out of it. On a one hour talk show, time is tight!
