I recently saw a regional equity prodution of Carousel, one of my favorate shows. Also the 1st show I ever saw on Broadway as a child, so I went with high expectations. But to my suprise, THEY CUT 3 SONGS!!! I couldnt belive they cut CLASSIC R&H! They cut "Your A Queer One Julie Jordan", "Give It To Em Good Carrie" and "Stonecutters Cuttin On Stone" AND they also cut verses out of the more knowable songs (i.e.-"Juse is Busting Out All Over") and made silly little dance breaks!!
CAN THEY DO THIS??!! HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A CLASSIC PRODUCTION CUT?!?!

Many productions cut the "Give it to Em Good" section at the beginning of JUNE IS BUSTING OUT ALL OVER. I have hear of a few productions cutting STONECUTTERS. Very many productions cut THE HIGHEST JUDGE OF ALL - the last Broadway revival cut it. However, I've never heard of anyone cutting "YOU'RE A QUEER ONE". It's an integral part of the "bench scene" - considered a landmark in musical theate writing.
Regardless, cutting songs without permissioon of Rodgers & Hammerstein is ILLEGAL - it is a direct violation of copywright law. There is NO WAY that R&H would ever give permission for LL those cuts.
