What are some of your favorites? My mom wants to get a new one to listen to for our drive on vacation(I guess I overplayed Wicked...). I was thinking Urinetown, is it good? I already have Hairspray, Thoroughly Modern Millie, A Chorus Line, Wicked, uhh and some more. Any ideas or suggestions?
Bat Boy...and Avenue Q...but it dependes on your mom(and how old you are i guess). some may think its inappropriate.
Are you looking for recent ones, or classics/oldies?
The Avenue Q one is a lot of fun.
Hmmm... some of my favorites (though all may not be family-car-ride appropriate):
Taboo
Aida
Rent
Tick, Tick... BOOM!
The Last 5 Years
Movin' Out
Avenue Q
yes, Bat Boy is good... Jesus Christ, Superstar is always a car favorite... Hair may be fun...
Thanks! I'm looking for anything, old or new. I think we already have Jesus Christ Superstar. I'm going to listen to these at the store, thank you!!
Here are the ones that I have that I like:
Thoroughly Modern Millie
Hairspray
Urinetown
The Producers
42nd Street
Oklahoma!
Gypsy (new revival)
Wicked
Phantom of the Opera
I forgot about phantom...that something everyone can like.

Try THE BOY FROM OZ.
You can even sing along with many of the songs as some of them were original pop hits ( I Honestly Love You, I'd Rather Leave When I am in Love, Don't Cry Out Loud, Arthur's Theme, etc.)
Just be careful about shaking your...er...shoulders when they sing I GO TO RIO in case you're driving the car

Miss Saigon the symphonic recording is really good. I agree with Avenue Q unless you haven't seen the show (the CD gives everything away). Urinetown is great too. People have named the other ones that I know are really good, so I won't bore you be renaming them.
Urinetown is excellent but I would highly recomended Dreamgirls as an essential CD to own and listen to. Hairspray is another great one and is Songs for a New World. Since you are a Shizkid, I'd also like to suggest Kristin's Let Yourself Go album and Idina's Here album as well.
I have Let Yourself Go, it kind of makes me shudder. I am not particularly fond of it...
Circuit City and Best Buy suck, at least in my area. They never had Kristin's or Idina's album in stock in the store. I don't even think they have Idina's album online! Put some real talent in your stores...
Same with Susan Egan CDs.
You need to either go to the Gershwin or to Idina's website to buy her new one.
Some of my favorite CR's are... *flips through her CD book*...
The Last 5 Years
Tick, Tick...Boom!
Taboo OBC
Millie..but you already have!
Aida
Man of La Mancha
Flower Drum song
hmm...some others that would be fun for the car...
Hairspray
Little Shop
Avenue Q
Zanna
Rocky Horror!
Mamma Mia...I know, I know...the show's not so good but who can resist Abba?
Yeah same with where I live Millie. It's aweful. CD's are cheaper at Best Buy than the other store(FYE) but they never have ANY of the CD's I want, so I am forced to pay like $18.99 for all of my CD's. That's almost $10.00 more than my friends pay for the popular crap they buy!

IN addition to those mentioned above, Les Mis is great as well.

I just drove from Orlando to Detroit and listened to cast recording 90% of the way. Wicked and the new Little Shop of Horrors were may favorites (I listened to both of them more than once), but I also played Jekyll & Hyde, Ragtime, Aida, Children of Eden, Big, Les Miz, and a couple of others.
I just got back from a trip, and I brought Once on this Island, Ragtime, Urinetown, Avenue Q, Bat Boy, and Anyone Can Whistle. Urinetown is great, and you should definitely get it. All of the others are just as great, if not better.
The Revivial of 'Kiss Me, Kate' with BSM has a great Cast Recording
