Casting Ideas for DRS tour- Page 2

1) I doubt JLT would do it. The reason she didn't sign on to WICKED longer is because she wants to spend time with her child. So, going on tour would be almost out of the question for her. Maybe she could take over for Sherie on Broadway one day though. Plus, I think she's too big a name to tour right now.

2) Jason Alexander would be good, but only as Andre. He doesn't work as Lawrence or Freddy. I don't think he would tour in a supporting role, though.

3) Kerry Butler wouldn't do it either. She's working on a lot of workshops and is trying to originate a leading role on Broadway. Doing a tour would be a step back for her right now.

4) Hunter Foster is a good idea for Freddy. I don't know why his name didn't come to me before. I definitely agree with that casting. He would also make a good replacement for Norbert on Broadway.

Jennifer Westfeldt? no way!

However..many of the other suggestions were commendable :)

I adore Kerry, and I could picture her as Christina.

Now, not to go all Batophile on you guys, but... What about Deven May as Freddy? And now that I think about it, Sean McCourt as Lawrence? Now, I don't care if they'll do it or not, I just think they'd fit the roles. Maybe not Sean, but I can totally see Seven rolling around on teh stage. (Or maybe I just WANT to see that? >>

I love J Tags with all my heart and even thought about him trying it. But, I don't think it would work.

Freddy has to be disgusting. He's basically a womanizing pig who belches, iches his crotch, and has a beer gut. That's not really something that Johnny fits. Plus Johnny doesn't have the range that the character needs.

Actually, I could picture Raúl in the role. Doubt he'd tour, and don't know if he'd replace someone. But I could see it.

tgif i was thinking the exact same thing! foa, i know.. that's why i said a huge challenge, i'm just trying to think of who could possible do it because i really don't like the idea of hunter foster...

Well, if people are throwing the name Christian Borle and J Tags around...They're definitely younger than Steve Martin or Norbert. I don't know if it would be believable played by someone as young as they are.

BUT...if we're going there. Then why not Gavin Creel? His voice is much similar to Norbert's style than Johnny's or Christian's is. He can definitely act the part and he's quite funny in LA CAGE...despite what other people say. I honestly think he could tackle the part.

I thought of Sean McCourt, too -- that'd be excellent. It's harder for me to think of who could replace Sherie. Her comedy is so unique! Amy Spanger? I'm not very familiar with her work outside of ttB, but she's got the voice.

oh no, not gavin... this would just be horrible miscasting for him.. i would really be upset about it... what about chris sieber? i guess he has to stay in spamalot for a long while now huh? i was going to say what about michael arden, but does he have the comedy in him? i think it would be fine by a younger person... freddy is supposed to be younger anyway...

yeah, he'll have to stay in... amy's doing the wedding singer, right? i really think that freddy is one of the hardest parts to cast... the closest i see to working that could be available is mbw.

I'm sorry darcey but I have to disagree.

Mbw is WRONG for Freddy. Remember...Ruprecht has to be Lawrence's brother in the show...it just wouldn't work.

Plus, can Mbw even hit the notes that the role calls for?
