I hope you're right about Ashley Judd. I didn't see her in "Picnic" all those years back, but don't remember hearing anything all that great about her performance. Is she a stage actress?
Many years I ago. I was sitting in a movie theatre watching the flawed but enjoyable HEAT starring Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro…
Towards the end of the movie, there's this scene where the wife of Val Kilmer's character has to warn her husband not to go into a building, as he will be arrested..
She of course can't speak or shout as she is being watched by the police. She stands on a balcony beckoning him but through her actions and movements, he senses something is wrong and he walks away..
I watched this absolutely gorgeous blonde (?)actress do all this with no dialogue and with such a sense of heartbreak and of love, that it was riveting….
I remember thinking, this woman, whoever the hell she was, just held that screen in a way that other actresses would kill for…and I made a note to watch the credits for her name..
It was, of course, Ashley Judd.
The role of Maggie could have been written for her...and indeed, should be something special to see ….
I second that YES YES YES!!! I adore Ashley Judd, and think she is VERY underated. She is so talented not to mention GORGEOUS! This might have to be my first Broadway PLAY. I usually stick to the musicals, just call me a musical theatre whore

The funny thing is I do not like Ashley's personality....like when she does interviews and Award Shows. She always comes off as some spoiled Show Business Princess with an attitude. But, she is one of the greatest actresses I have ever seen. I think she will be great in this role, and hey, maybe I'm wrong about her personality. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets the Tony for the role next year....she certainly deserves Oscars for some of the work she has done so far.

I agree somewhat about her personality. Like most celebs, she doesn't always come off too well. But she's a heck of an actress and I hope she gets the Tony next summer for this role.
Ashley is a beautiful woman and talented actress. I have seen mostly all her films. I would love to see her in Cat on A Hot Tin Roof. Wouldn't you be guarded if you sister was Wynona. What a difference in siblings..........
