I just saw a commercial on Turner Classic Movies for The Catered Affair. It's airing this Sunday at 7:45am. A little early for a Sunday but that's what DVRs are for. I've never seen the film before and I'd imagine many of you haven't either since it's not available on DVD (yet). So I thought I'd let everyone know so they can set their DVRs/VCRs if they want to.
They're showing this a lot. I've come across it at least 3 times since Harvey went on for the guest programming month.
Be warned: It's much different from the musical. The bachelor uncle's straight and gets married to a widow!
It's a charming film. Bette Davis is superb and breaks your heart. And it's fun to see a young Debbie Reynolds! She's really good too. Light hearted and warm. Barry Fitzgerald is hilarious as the Irish Uncle who feels left out. Definitely worth viewing.
It is definitely worth viewing.
