Saw Catherine Walker as "Mary Poppins" this weekend! Can't believe this show is her Broadway debut, and Saturday night was her first time as Mary! She was AMAZING!! Who knows about her??
Very talented gal. I know her for several concert and cabaret appearances she made with Steve Lutvak over the past few years. Steve announced a few months ago that Catherine had won the job to be the Poppins understudy, and I'm happy that she not only went on - but that WOWED so many people as well.
Yeah! Please let me know if you find any more links to Catherine Walker! Even for Mary Poppins, her performance was so beautiful, I want to know more. Gorgeous voice, and she REALLY made the show SO believable...there was some kind of connection...I guess you could say "Magic"! Ha! But, it was there! Audience was greatly impressed and appreciative! Can't wait to see more of her!

Yes. I hear that Ashley Brown had to leave the show before intermission on Saturday, and was out for Saturday night and Sunday afternoon's show. I did hear she felt ill and was not hurt in any way. Haven't heard anything more.
I,too, saw the show on Sunday. Friends were in from out of town and thought it would be a good show to see. (I was pushing for GREY GARDEN, TALK RADIO, or JOURNEY'S END. I lost.)Having seen the show in previews with Ashley Brown, who I thought was perfectly adequate, I have to say that Catherine Walker was FREAKING AWESOME. I just believed her actions, and what she was doing more than I did when I saw it the first time. Her voice is like...buttah. Seriously. Dang girlfriend, record a CD! Anyway, she seems to be becoming someone whose name we all should recognize. GOOD FOR HER!
Been looking for info on Catherine Walker since I saw MP Saturday (3/17) Matinee...finally found catherinewalker.biz Also here on Who's Who. Was this really her first time as MP?! What a performance. I was moved to tears!
