I absolutely ADORE Charles Busch and all of his work. "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife" is, by far, my favorite play. "Die, Mommie, Die" was a hysterical movie...as well as "Psycho Beach Party." I know the guy has amazing writing/acting ability...but can he sing?
The reason I ask is...I was mulling over "LA CAGE" in my head today and, since it's doing fairly decent in the Box Office and has a pretty good shot at the TONY for Best Revival of a Musical (which might help at the Box Office), does anyone else think he could be a great replacement for Beach? I don't know. In my head I was thinking about the show and it just crossed my mind that I thought he would make an amazing Albin...but I've never seen him perform live so I don't know if he has the vocal chops for it. Any thoughts?
Does he sing "Why Not Me?" in DIE MOMMIE DIE, or was that a voice-over?
I'm personally hoping he can play Bernadette in a musical version of "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert".
"Psycho Beach Party" and "Die, Mommy, Die!" Rule!
Charles sings 'Have Yourselves A Merry Little Christmas' during his annual production of "Times Square Angel." He sings with great feeling and warmth, but trust me, you wouldn't want to hear him more than once a year.

Charles is not a singer per se, but can certainly carry a tune. And his acting would carry the role any day of the week. I think he could pull it off absolutely-great casting idea!
I also adore Charles but, he could only carry a tune if he was carrying it into Raul Esparza's throat.
Midtown-
AHEM darling. Don't you knock Mr Busch. You can knock BUSH ANYDAY but not the gorgeous red head.
You missed the 20th anniversary and Mr Busch was faboo and so was Julie.
I laughed so hard I threw out my back.

I'm kicking myself because I didn't go to "Vampire Lesbians of Sodom" on Monday.
It was the most fun I've had in 20 years.

The man is a comedic genius as is Julie.
That with Brent Barrett, Bruce Vilanch, Mario Cantone and songs written by Marc Shaiman it was MAGIC.
Pure magic.
The thread jacker has spoken.
Carry on.
I wish they could have used more of Vilanch. It was a TEASE.
Bravo to all involved.
I was invited to the after party but I hurt myself so I limped home.
I've always said that he should star in Ruthless.
Anyone have any ON TOPIC thoughts?
he can sing anything of mine, anytime he'd like!!!
That song was one of the funniest I have ever seen.
Could you imagine a show written by Shaiman/Wittman/ Busch and Vilanch?
Add Alessandrini and I might have a coronary.

Charles Busch did the play Auntie Mame, not the musical Mame, recently.
But I heard him sing Marc Shaiman's song at Seth's Chatterbox last week, and he sounded fine to me...though perhaps I was laughing too hard to really tell.

he starred in (and co-wrote)the musical SWINGTIME CANTEEN.
Last summer Charles Busch starred in the original, Non-Musical version of Mame. He was beautiful, inside and out. After Charles, I don't think I'd be happy seeing anyone else as Auntie Mame. But, the only singing he did was a few bars of, "We need a little Christmas, right this very minute..... "
Her nephew Patrick, as a little boy, was played by Tolan Aman, one of the adorable kids in Chitty and as an adult by another adorable kid, Max von Essen.
