You'd think they would take pity on us. I mean of all of us, theater people probably have the least amount of money!
Wheres a good place to get Broadway merchandise cheap, or at least cheaper than usual.
And I know I've already asked before, but I'll ask again. Is there any way to buy Broadway posters in full size, like movie poster sized?
I would check ebay religiously. People sell theater stuff all the time and sometimes they start the bidding very low since they don't know what some of it is worth. I've gotten some great stuff for next to nothing.
Amazon.com sometimes has cheaper deals if you are looking for soundtracks.
I just got two soundtracks for 13.50 a piece w/ free shipping. I consider that cheap b/c every store I have seen them in had them at $18 or more.
I've seen full size Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, and Rent posters in various souvenir shops in the theater district (not Broadway New York or Theatre Circle). Sometimes these places have merchandise cheaper (near 8th avenue). I remember perusing the racks the first time I went to NY.

you can also go to Broadwaynewyork.com and print out a few of the 10% off coupons and use them anywhere around there 4 stores in the city...
E bay is a good place. Also B'way Cares/Equity Fights Aids has a store that sells stuff & u get to donate to a good cause. Just go to their website & some times they have sales.
I find the selling of Broadway merchandise to be an oddity. When I performed all they sold were souvenir programs for $.15. A friend went to a Jackie Mason show and bought a Jackie Mason kippah. I've seen some of the other things and they all semm to be in somewaht questionable taste.
On the other hand, who am I to judge!
Miriam
It's all about the money, Miriam. If they can make it, they'll sell it. I was surprised I couldn't buy a GOLDA'S BALCONY toilet bowl scrubber at the theater last week.
Well not a toilet scrubber but Maybe a pretty lampshade? Or a cigarette lighter? LOL
