Chess - Anthem

I just heard Josh Groban sing "Anthem" (his voice cannot be described in words ... get him onstage .... now XD) and I know that it's from something called Chess, and I think I've heard Michael Ball sing it too, but can anybody tell me about Chess and satisfy my curiosity? Many thanks

Great show, written by the men from ABBA.
The music is great, better than the book, but it's worth buying every recording they ever made, because they are all so different.

This is my singature song. I love it. Too many people have heard me sing it after a few cocktails. I never saw Chess, but fell in love with the music in 1984.

I really like most of the score, especially this song. I was really upset I couldn't go see Josh and everyone who was in the benefit concert of it...

When I sing it a piano bar - many think it is an Irish anthem.

And besides Michael Ball, both Anthony Warlow and Colm Wilkinson have done this song in their albums.

Of course, Anthony Warlow's version is the best.

I love the CHESS music. I used to hate it, then I was involved with the AFA CHESS concert and fell in love. The music is great, but the show as a whole is pretty terrible...

He doesn't have it on an album yet but Rob Evan sings the hell out of it, too. Does it at practically all of his concerts.

Anthony Warlow was okay. Josh was probably my favorite. And for a woman, Linda Eder sang it fairly nicely.

I got the song from a friend, but I can't exactly redistribute it. Maybe try Kazaa or Limewire??

The score includes good tunes, some of them became chart hits in the 80s, the duet "I Know Him So Well" being the biggest hit of them all, performed by Elaine Paige & Barbara Dickson. Later the song has been recorded by zillions of artists, like Whitney Houston with her mum Cissy. Also Murray Head's "One Night In Bangkok" did quite well.
