re: Cheyenne Jackson in TALE OF TWO CITIES

i find it interesting that he was cast as Charles Darnay, I always pictured Darnay as an older man, I would prefer to see him as Sydney Carton

Are you sure you are not confusing the character of Charles Darney with Dr. Manette? Carton and Darnay are supposed to look so similar that the switch towards of the end of the novel is successful. They should be around roughly the same age.

Carton and Darnay are the same age, there-in lies the conflict of Lucy's choice. BTW did anyone see the performances?

Didn't get to see it (I always seem to have previous engagements when their presentations come up), but I have heard from others that it went very well. I can't say anything more than that at this point. I'm going to see about getting a picture posted if you would like though. Next chance to see it will be when it hits Chicago. (No info on when tickets will go on sale for that yet. Probably won't happen until they have solidified the schedule with the new director and announced it.)

I really hope this gets done with the reading cast. This was one of my favorite books that I had to read in HS, and I LOVE the idea of James Barbour in the role.

re: Cheyenne Jackson in TALE OF TWO CITIES

I'm not sure how many of the past threads and articles on A Tale of Two Cities you have read, but James Barbour is the first choice for the role of Sydney Carton IF everything works out. There is a possibility that it could change, but they want him and he wants to do it. Still not sure on who will end up as Darnay though. Gavin Creel has played the part in presentations along with Cheyenne Jackson. Aaron Ramey also played the part in the workshop this summer. They also really liked Rob Richardson in the summer workshop as Carton so I would look for him to be in another role in the show. I am hoping there will be at least one Broadway newcomer in the cast.

If they do DP, I'll make them pay you a royalty for the rights to the title.

Don't bother with the royalties. It'll sell more tickets and we want to keep Cheyenne gainfully employed.
