Posted: 11/30/04 at 9:16pmSo the regional theatre in my city is playing CoE. I know NOTHING about it, but thinking of going to see it. IF YOU'VE SEEN THIS, please give me your opinion(as if that WOULDN'T happen here at BWW) on the show and if you think it's worth seeing. Are there any good songs, scenes, dialogue? Thanks!

Hey NYBroadwayNY,
The Arkansas Repertory Theatre in Little Rock, Arkansas is about to open this show. Are you talking about this production? I live close to this theatre and have tickets to it. I don't really know much about the show, though.

Posted: 11/30/04 at 10:07pmI'm still waiting to find the OLC of this show, at a reasonible price. I had a professor in college my freshmen year who had a demo tape of the show before it opened in London. I featured Frances on three songs. They were so amazingly beautiful. I think it was the title track and "Stranger to the Rain". Does that sound right? Anyway, I've read a lot of good things about this show, so why not see it?

Posted: 11/30/04 at 10:26pmSEE IT SEE IT SEE IT!!! I've seen and been a part of many many musicals, and it is a subject about which I have very particular tastes. But I have to say that Children Of Eden is the best show I have ever been a part of and is easily in my top 10 best overall scores. I'm not even religious but the themes in the show are just expressed beautifully.

Posted: 11/30/04 at 10:38pmWell, I confess, I did buy my tickets today, but as I told someone else, I just wanted to ask others if I may have wasted my money. ALL your responses have been positive, so now, I can't wait! thanks everyone!

Posted: 11/30/04 at 10:56pmhopefully it's a good production. it's not the easiest music in the world to sing. I saw a regional production in San Jose several years back that was outstanding. Adrian Zmed from the Paper Mill premiere reprised his roles brilliantly. Does your regional theatre use any Equity actors?

Posted: 11/30/04 at 11:39pmthe cast is awesome. a lot of folks don't like Stephanie Mills but I love her as Eve/Mama Noah. Zmed is wonderful, Darius De Haas is equally wonderful, and Kelli Rabke is a great Yonah. William Solo makes a great God too.

It's worth getting if you don't listen to the tracks that Stephanie Mills is on...
I especially like Darius de Haas.

Posted: 11/30/04 at 11:41pmbearing in mind of course that this is someone who thinks Eden can sing. not to attack her opinions, but people obviously have different ideas of good singing.

This is true. Most people don't think Eden knows how to sing either. I think she's amazing. It's all a matter of taste. Whatever, I like her and that's all that really matters for me.

Posted: 12/1/04 at 7:21amLoge: The OLC of Children Of Eden is OOP and rather hard to find. Right now there is one on ebay.co.uk currently at £50.00 and the seller dispatches internationally. Just thought I'd let you know...

Posted: 12/1/04 at 10:57amYes, go see it. I saw the World AIDS concert version in NYC last year and it was outstanding. It is one of Schwartz's most mature scores and it has some incredible material in it. The Papermill cast album is quite "extraordinary" as well. They sing the crap out of it. I heard/had the OLC album years ago (with Ken Page as God, Kevin Colson as Noah, Frances Ruffelle) and the new album is better (though they cut a fun "Shipshape" song for the US version). I'd see it again if it played in my area.
