Chills from a OBC: SITPWG
re: Chills from a OBC: SITPWG#25
Posted: 1/8/05 at 3:36pmIt's about art in general (not just painting, but all forms of art), and why artists create art. The relationship between George and Dot is central to the show, but mainly to emphasize the obsessive nature of George and what he is willing to sacrifice for his painting. The musical also provides a contrast between the artist of the late-19th century and artist of the late-2oth century.

Thanks for that Magruder! That was a great read, and sums up many of my feelings towards the show as well.
And towards Sondheim.
I never liked his wqord at first, but after a short period of time his work consumed me. I always liked Sunday, but with each subsequent viewing it meant more and more. Every time I have seen it I have taken just that little bit more from it.
