I'm definitely addicted to "Great Big Stuff" like that.
i love chimp in a suit! it is a very good song...even though the music in the beginning sounds like it came right off of that SIMS computer game. even so, i love the cd. i don't think i could pick a favorite. but that bonus track of "nothing is too wonderful"......ahhh.......i love it so much. i feel like it will become one of those standard songs in the future.
Taryn -
You are 100% correct about Sherie's bonus track of "Nothing is Too Wonderful to be True." I usually skip the bonus tracks preferring to end with the show proper, but tonight I let the CD play all the way through and when I heard that track I went back and listened to it 5 more times! (Does anyone else think that in the first line Sherie sounds a bit like Ella Fitzgerald?)
If this show had been done in the 1960s that would have been a single and probably gotten plenty of air-play on "beautiful music" stations.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
It's just a very consistent recording.
All of it is outstanding.
I like to belt out "Here I Am" in my room on a daily basis. :)
When I first got it, I listened to Love is My Legs about 98 times a day for a week. So, I understand completely.
