Just a quick question to those who have seen the US production of "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", is it appropriate for an 8 year old? Thinking of bringing my little sister, but she tends to be easily scared. Any advice?

Well, my aunt's bringing my 5 year old cousin, so I think it's fine for an 8 year old. It's a kid show.

YEs. It's fine for kids. Deathly boring for anyone else.

It might scare them a little. There are really loud cannons that make me jump, even when I know they are coming. Plus the Childcatcher is quite "creepy". I ws sitting around some kids who got kind of scared. You may want to be sure that you explain to the kid that it's all make believe. Just to be safe. It won't frighten most children, but in might frighten some.

They turn the lights out for the Overture so some kids may not like that for very long. Be careful...

I think she should be fine, there were a few kids freaking out when I saw it because of the Child Catcher.

I just watched the movie. Childcatcher is SO effing creepy, hell I'D be scared. But this is DEFINITELY a show for kids. They might be a little scared for a second, but it's fun and silly, and absolutley appropriate for children.

On a sidenote, I'm SO EXCITED!!!

Might I just say, the Childcatcher in the show is fantastic! He is so great, and was my absolute favorite character. Aaaah! Love Kevin Cahoon.

It you think it would help, you might show her the film first. The Childcatcher can be scary to some kids, so if she sees it on film first, and then you discuss the character with her, it might help when she sees the show.
