Chitty Closing ?

My brother in law, fashioned after the Oliver Platt character in Huff, says he heard Chitty is closing. We are seeing it today

Anyone hear anything definite ?

Nothing definte, though there are like eight threads full of rumors. Most people have been hearing after the New Year, as the show is losing money.

I'm seeing it later.

Just back

We are glad we saw it but equally glad we did not pay full price. The 2 nd act was better than the first. The cast, sets, costumes & choreography were great. Some of the new songs were engaging but it is basically a show for kids.

Maybe one reason it is not doing well is if a couple have to take 2 kids it is $ 400 to walk thru the door. Add onto that all the souvenirs & you are looking @ $ 500 for a family of 4 to see it & that does not include a meal

Sorry to see it close but its nut is simply too big. There were empty seats & when you have that on a Saturday matinee for a high priced musical it spells a receipe for disaster
