I read a post a few days ago that said (whoever it was) was sitting on row CC and it kind of ruined the effect that you could see how the car took flight. My seat is row "B" seat 10 in the orchestra section....will it be ruined for me too? And also not to break anyones dream, but is the car flown over the audience in such a way that i can feel safe? I have a terrible fear of things overhead....(birds, helecoptors, etc.)....
The car will be over the first 4 rows of the orchestra,
and I believe everyone who seats in the orchestra will see how it's done.
Oh, and don't worry, it's very safe.
I'm an usher there, I've seen the show in its entirety 6 times so far from all different parts of the theatre. My advice is, if you want the best effect of the fancy FX, sit in Dress Circle. If you want to be near the action, by all means sit closer. A lot of the makeup and more intricate designs are best appreciated from the 1st few rows, and you won't necessarily lose any of the flying car effect. The whole effect is amazingly well-garnished such that it can be effective for viewers in all areas of the massive house. From most angles, you'd really need to be looking for the trick in order to spot anything. I do find that when I'm up close, I wind up becoming preoccupied with the effect itself, rather than the purpose it plays. From the Dress Circle or even Balcony (if you have decent vision), you'll probably get more of the full gestalt effect. And it's cool enough to make you forget the intricacies involved.

Can you fully appreciate it even from those cheapie rear balcony seats? Not that it really matters since I've already got the tix, and it's all I'd have been able to afford anyway.

I had those $20. They were great, and the Balcony was half empty, so I moved to the front row. It's funny because while the Balcony was empty, the last row ($20) was full! :)
The Balcony seats at the Hilton are great for the price ($20).
I'm just wondering I have tickets for front row on the far left side..will anything be obstructed?
Thanks for the info Tiny-Toon. I'm going on a Wednesday in a couple of weeks...Gotta love it when a show has $20 tix that you can buy in advance (even if they are in the very last row of the balcony).
A little off topic, but how does the car fly over the audience?

Somtimes those do end up being the best deal. You can always move up to the front.
I don't know about the Broadway run, but in London, it didn't matter where you sat, it was painfully obvious how the flying car effect was acheived. Which made a mockery of the producers not wanting to reveal the "top secret" way it was done.
They show how they do all the effects in the Making of DVD
for anyone that has seen the show; is there an official program yet? (not the playbill), but like the full photographs and things like that....I just bought the poster from Broadwaynewyork.com but i can't seem to find if they have a program or not....if there is i'll probably wait and buy one at the show
Will they have one by opening night? Or at least by May 12th?? *crosses fingers*
I was sitting in the center of row O in the Orchestra. I could NOT see how the car was flown. I was close enough to see the great makeup on characters like the child catcher, but far enough back to enjoy and get caught up in all the special efx. My friend was in the first row of the Dress Circle and thought that was a great seat too.
We sat in Row C center orch and the effect was great. No programs yet, but they had posters, little cars, light pins, etc.....
