Anyone see Christain Borle's last show of Something Rotten? Watching scenes on You Tube of him...so glad I got to see him a few weeks ago before he left. He was amazing!
So how was the last show? I think of the leads left too, right? Did they do anything special?

I was there. Heidi, John, Kate and Christian all got huge entrance applauses. Heidi blickenstaff got another big round of applause after right hand man and you could tell she was taking it in. Kate Reinders seemed to have cried after "I love the way". Some of the audience gave a standing ovation after "a musical"...which I haven't seen them get a standing o for that number since previews, so that was great. The entire cast was giving it their all. Christian borle didn't let any applauses go too long after his numbers; he was quick to speak to keep things moving. I will miss these cast members terribly, especially John Cariani. He was my favorite! The Kirkpatrick brothers (music lyrics and book) were there as well as John O'Farrell (book) so that was really awesome to see them. Overall a very energetic audience and a wonderful performance all around. It was concluded with a sweet curtain call speech from Brad Oscar.

Hairspray, thanks so much for reporting back. Sounds amazing and emotional with the extra applauses and standing ovation...so deserved. They were all so incredible...Christian, John (perfect for the part!), Kate and Heidi. So glad to have seen them. (I missed Brian D'Arcy James as NIck, but Rob Mcclure was great as the part). Will have to check out the video.

I was there last week...and applauses lasted much longer than usual and the cast, including Borle, dragged out some of the numbers, Hard to be the Bard and Bottom's gonna be on Top, in particular.
The cast even said so at the stage door. Incredibly energy that night as well.

I was at Christian's second-to-last show (the Saturday matinee) and Christian got a loud entrance applause during his entrance in "Welcome to the Renaissance", although (surprisingly) none of the other principals did. The applause for "A Musical" and "Something Rotten/Make an Omelette" went on for what felt like forever, as did some of the other songs, but for all I know that might happen every night.
There were a few cute moments that I suspect weren't part of the regular show or just drawn out more. I'm glad that I got to see everyone before they left! Now I'm low-key obsessed with this musical.

there were little things throughout.
John started to tear up during to your own self be true. Got a big hug from one of the ensemble
HE and Heidi were a little teary during right hand man reprise
Christian's last flourish in the tap battle was a little longer (tho I am glad that Rob went back to the single tap in reply)
Also Christian worked in a star wars reference as he was losing it in Hard to be the bard, telling the quill that it was his only hope.
So glad to have been there Saturday night

Thanks for the report from people who were there that night, must have been terrific. I saw the show last year and loved it.
