Well the original got almost everything wrong about Charity. If it were a sparkling new interpretation it would have had a better critical reception. It was a lazy, misguided revival that didn't trust its source material.
Personally i think had they used the Fosse choreography people/reviewers wouldn't have been quite so quick to jump on it. I do agree the choreography for this production was awful.
Sweet Charity really needs a director/choreographer not a director AND a choreographer. The book is too limp for a non-stylistic production to work. I think someone like Susan Stroman or Jerry Mitchell could have easily used their own choreography successfully.
Nicely put, i agree. But I still think Christina was FIERCE.

Yes, but with Stroman all the numbers would have had to use wacky props.
If you saw Cilento's "choreography" you'd be more than happy with Stroman's prop-ography.
And I loved Applegate, for the record. I thought she was charming. She's a good dancer, I saw her earlier into the injury and though tentative, I could tell the talent was there, who happened to be in a awful production.

Well, Cilento is one of the worst choreographers working on Broadway today.
I could do that Wicked "choreography". CORINE could do that Wicked "choreography".
