Posted: 4/9/05 at 9:09pmI saw her over the summer. I was pretty excited because I had heard her sing on Disney Channel and thought she was good. Unfortunately, I was really dissappointed. She looked like she was straining the whole time and it didn't even sound good. Her acting was passable. Overall, I was very disappointed by her performance.

Posted: 4/9/05 at 9:54pmShe was on Even Stevens and the voice of Kim Possible. Lots of little Disney Channel things, and they produced her music videos and such I think.

I saw her as Belle on Broadway and then again in the TOTS production of "Beauty and the Beast" in Atlanta. Here are my observations:
Her singing, while is not anything special, was pretty good in that it was on key. Just nothing exciting. I've heard alot worse. Then again, the role of Belle is not a dificult vocal role at all. I think that alot of the folks who demonize her harbor alot of the same resentment that has been harbored towards "Beauty and the Beast" since April of '94. They are anti-Disney/Corporation/Disney Channel etc etc. I've seen Egan, Butler, Huber, and Romano play Belle. Overall I'd say Kim Huber was the best but Romano had an interesting portrayal. She made Belle seem a bit more space cadet-ish and out there. This was a bit hard to get used to at first but I think worked well in the end. It was hard to rid my mind of the pre-conceived notions on how every line in the show was to be delivered. It was an entertaining show. Before I saw her in the show this summer, I had been mentally preparing myself for a two hour Idina Tony Awards Performance which it ended up NOT being.

Posted: 4/10/05 at 12:37amI have seen 3 differnt Belles and was definitly did the lest with for me in the role.. I felt like she was trying to be a pop star on stage rather then a Broadway actress.. out of all the kids they are pushing into startdom on the disney channel she is he only one I can stand, she not a bad actress, she just wasn't the best singer for theater, in my point of view.

I second that, My Fair Lady... I saw her live @ Bway on Bway and I thought she was terrible. I hoped it was just an off-day thing, but word around town is it was as 'good' as she ever was.

Posted: 4/10/05 at 10:08amI heard her sing a couple of songs and she wasn't that great. She is better doing the Disney Channel pop stuff because then they can write the songs specifically for her voice and tweak it so it doesn't sound bad.

Posted: 4/10/05 at 1:26pmi saw her perform "a change in me" at broadway on broadway and i honestly thought that i could do a better job. her voice was all over the place. it wasn't at all consistent. there was a lot of notes that just made me cringe. i think she should stick to acting on the disney channel...not broadway.

Oooooh Broadway on Broadway... GOOD TIMES.
I was actually there and since I had seen her as Belle earlier that summer, when she stepped onstage, I just started walking around. I turned around at quite a few parts because she was SO all over the place, I couldn't stop laughing. I'm completely with cathy, I'm pretty sure I could have sang it better...and I'm a guy.
In all fairness to Christy though, I will say that in the show, she was just very bad; at Broadway on Broadway, she was an abomination.

Posted: 4/10/05 at 4:36pmMy school did beauty and the beast; our belle did almost all of it in her chest voice. But on the cd it’s a mix. Its not very hard stuff. Change in me is probably the hardest song.

Posted: 4/10/05 at 9:52pmI saw her as Belle last May. I guess my opion pretty much follows suit, but with some differences....I do think her acting was very over the top, the clear definition of OVER ACTOR, BUT, all in all I think it worked. You can't be too serious with your actions when you're in a show geared towards kids, kids LIKE big actions..And that's just what she did. She did strain her voice quite a few times, but I really did sound NICE. She's no Peters, Foster, or Headley, but she held her own for her talent and ability. Yes, it was a desperate ploy of Disney to put one of their Channel stars in the role, but regardless of how you want to look at it....it worked! She even had her contract extended! As adults we're so critical of other adults, but I mean think of all these 7-13 year old girls (and some boys hitting puberty) DIEING to see this show! It was a desperate but smart move for Disney. Back to Ramano..I really think she did a fine job. I've seen pictures of EVERY girl who has played Belle on Broadway (you know, that one with her head cocked and holding the book and the basket)...right, .....anyway, I'll say of all of the girls I've seen Ramano had the best look of Belle...Beautiful Skin, the wig really complimented, the costumes looked perfect on her,...like i say she had the best look of them all..

A change in me isn't the hardest song..in one of my books the highest note is a C and it's a higher key...NOT hard
Home is proabably the hardest with the "Build highER walls around me" part at the end..that's like a high E or F i think...and it pops so it's harder to do..esp if you do it the whole song chest..
she sucks..end of story!

Posted: 4/11/05 at 12:06amI did notice that she had to sing Maurice's harmony part for "you're all I've got, no matter what." Couldn't handle the high notes. Her singing, while not stellar, was not as bad as say a twelve year old with a violin in hand.

Posted: 4/11/05 at 1:44amI also saw her in the TOTS production in Atlanta this winter. I was not impressed at all, but I hafta mention that my 6 year old sister loved her and apparently that was the case for all the little girls dressed in Belle costumes that evening. While artisticly, she was a regrettable choice, financially I think she did wonders for Disney (while possibly not for reasons I would admire) and at least in Atlanta, she made a good deal of cash for Disney in the role. I no longer live in Atlanta, but had for 6 years and had rarely seen the Fox that full. I really don't think she's a great actress or singer, but she seemed to sell tickets.
