Christy Carlson Romano as BELLE?!

I cant believe they cast Christy CR as Belle in "Beauty and the Beast" on Broadway...Man, im so jealous!! Is she even that good??

Yeah, a little late with the news. And she is not very good. her voice is so nasal and annoying and her acting was nothing special....To think, I missed Assassins to see her...IM SO DUMB! WHATS WRONG WITH ME?

man, it was weird seeing her as Belle opposite Jeff McCarthy. what an age difference! Jeff of course is always incredible, but this role wasn't suited to Christy. loved her in Parade though.

my first post! Yay! lol my fave plays are WICKED, into the woods, secret garden and les mis!!!! but wicked is #1! i haven't seen it yet? i'm dyyyying to see idina and kristin though! what movie is idina in anybody know? (i mean when she is absent)...

Idina is going to be leaving to shoot a role in Ask the Dust (I believe that is the title) with Colin Farrell and Salma Hayek.

I saw BEAUTY AND THE BEAST at the Kennedy Center when it came there the first time, and I saw it last year on Broadway. Unfortunately, that show is made by its cast. It was very good on Broadway, and the Belle I saw on Broadway was better than the one I had at the Kennedy Center (I got the understudy, who could not sing or act), but the ensemble was so much better at the Kennedy Center, especially in terms of dancing. "Be Our Guest" got a standing ovation (something I've never seen in the middle of a show before). On Broadway, it was good, but it had lost its punch. The special effects weren't as good, and they slowed down the songs so much b/c the dancers couldn't keep up that it really wasn't great. Too bad.

but here in orlando at MGM studios they have the beauty and the beast stage show which is crappy in terms of theatre but a fantastic waste of time...it's pretty much the only reason my sister and i go to that park.

secret-soul: yeah, i'm not thrilled w/ the b&tb show, but the hunchback show (is that also at mgm?) was pleasantly surprising. i went determined to hate it (being a real nyc bway snob!) & i was won over completely.

yup, she's about the worst actress yet for that role. When is she going to leave? I so sick of hearing her on the radio begging people to come see "Kim Possible" play "Belle" in "Beauty and the Beast" on Broadway. Makes you want to vomit.

I saw her a couple of months ago and, as others have said, the girl really cannot sing. Which made me think that the fact that I cannot sing should not hold me back from starring in a Broadway musical any longer. I've always wanted my own children's show, so I think I'll aim for that so I can later play Belle on Broadway...

I also read an article in the Star Ledger that a woman took her little kids to see it. After the show, the kids were waiting for Christy and she came out, didn't even make eye contact with them or acknowledge them, while her assistant handed out presigned photos.

I'm sorry, that just sucks. Of all the people to disappoint...not little kids. She could have at least smiled and said hello to them and explained that she was in a hurry. I hate the image of a bunch of heartbroken 8-year-olds walking away with sour memories of their first Broadway experience.

I agree, I was not at all impressed by her performance and to the person who mentioned her acting opposite Jeff McCarthy, that was sorta....creepy. The age difference was so obvious at the end, and they just did not seem comfortable at all. But I love Jeff McCarthy so that kinda made up for a lackluster Belle.

yes, the hunchback show is at MGM, too....if it's still there, that is...I don't really know. I only go there for the B&B show and Tower of Terror...it's enchanting more than theatrically stimulating...good times.
