JERSEY BOYS: Very cute show. I liked it, but didn't love it. JLY is what everybody said. Talented, beautiful, and charming. Not only is his singing right on the money, his acting is extaordinary. I was really surprised to see his character take such a journey. I also really enjoyed Christian Hoff. My absolute favorite narrator of the four of them. I will certainly see more of his work in the future. This really is such a fun show.
BAREFOOT IN THE PARK: So I've never been a big Patrick Wilson fan. I saw him in shows, but he never stood out to me. And though I was happy they actually cast a broadway performer in Phantom, I didn't care for his performance. However, in Barefoot, he really grabbed my attention. He showed his ability to play a comedic character. I left the theatre absolutely in love with his performance. I wish I could say the same for Amanda Peet. I was thoroughly dissapointed with her. There was no magic, and I didn't really see the love between them that apparanty the characters in the play saw. Never having seen Tony Roberts on stage before, I don't have anything to compare him to. But based on what I saw, he is such an electric performer. Demanding your attention.
THE ODD COUPLE: I didn't really know what to expect with this. I had never seen Broderick and Lane on stage together. It was well worth the 25 bucks because Nathan Lane was such a blast to watch. Mathhew Broderick has fallen back into Leo Bloom and I can't help but wonder if he's getting bored playing the same character over. I would have liked to see them reverse the roles, that would have made things much more interesting.
THE COLOR PURPLE: I saw this with two friends, and we sat in the front row. We absolutely loved it. It was my second time seeing the show. I always love going back to see a show once you are familiar with the music. It's a brand new experience. I absolutely love this show, and so far it's my favorite new show of the season.
THE PAJAMA GAME: I really wanted to hate Harry Connick Jr's performance and his chest, but I just couldn't. He really is perfect for the part, and his singing is INCREDIBLE. The only thing I did not care about was the way he moves his head when he's singing. It caused him to stop being the character, but instead be HCJ when he sings. Kelli O'Hara is absolutely wonderful and oh so beautiful. I was so impressed with her belting ability. And I'm sure it's been said before, but MEGAN LAWRENCE is INCREDIBLE! I get so excited when I think what the Tony race is going to be like this year. I absolutely CAN NOT wait for this cd.
