Posted: 9/23/04 at 6:23amI have a real "wait-and-see" attitude to Kristin in THE APPLE TREE. Sure, we'd all love to see her in it. But given her busy schedule the next twelve months, don't be too dissapointed if she drops out. She was also announced for the terrific NEW MOON two seasons ago (Christine Noll was excellent).

That was different. She was offered a part in The New Moon, but never actually accepted it. This seems like this a contract signed thing or they wouldn't have announced her with the inital press release. I may be wrong, but this is just speculation.
Anyway, would LOVE to see ANika as Lutiebelle. What an enormously talented girl!!!!!

Posted: 9/24/04 at 9:14pmMusicals Tonight announced months ago that they'd be doing The Apple Tree this season. Encores' production falls right in the middle of the Musicals Tonight run. I hope, assuming their rights don't get revoked, Musicals Tonight can get a high-profile performer or two to be in their production. Updated On: 9/24/04 at 09:14 PM

Posted: 9/24/04 at 9:19pmI have an inside source for ENCORES ( i mean REAL good) and they weren't going to do APPLE TREE originally. They WERE going to do ANYONE CAN WHISTLE mainly because they thought it was about time to recognize Stephen Sondheim. But they decided not to because if they want to recognize him, why recognize him in one of his worst shows? APPLE TREE was the last one to be decided. I gave my source a list of shows they hadn't done that gherbert and i thought would be great. APPLE TREE was tp of the list. this was right before the summer. So APPLE TREE was a last minute choice. But ah, what a good choice it was.

Posted: 9/24/04 at 9:26pmIt may have been a commercial failure in 1964 but given the general appreciation for the score which has grown through the years I'm wondering why someone would use the word "worst" when considering Anyone Can Whistle.

You can never count on anyone until the actual performance. Encores was trying to get Vanessa Williams to do "No Strings" and they finally had to go on without her.
I personally think that the previous administration (Judith Daykin) was better at managing Encores than the current administration.
