Hello. This is my favorite show, and I know a lot about it. There sadly not a lot of non-singing female roles. The only ones that come to mind are Margaret, the maid, and the Stand In (that are usually doubled) as well as The Hairdresser and Madam Margie (two parts that are usually doubled as well). Well, also one of the main parts, Alaura, only sings solo in one like teeny song and then has a duet, and it isn't a very hard song to sing. She is a great part, Alaura/Carla, and mostly an acting part.

is the maid a decent part? I'm a senior in high school and would like to leave my highschool show with a decent part:)
never mind... I think I'd just like to have a part... but on the audtion sheet I wanna be able to say I want somthing.

Um, sadly, no. Alaura is a lead role, but the Maid/Stand In and The Hairdresser/Margie are each on one scene each (so, 2 scenes total for each "set")
Is there a big ensamble or somthing? What kinda part is Margret or is there a website that can give me lots of info!?

say you want carla/alaura... she's a big featured role. the biggest dancing/character part for a female. her music is easy and there's not much. you just have to be able to carry a tune. the maid is a line. nothing
ohh
I really wanna be in the show cause it looks AMAZING... the directors aren't gonna give me a good part cause we don't get along, but if I were to go into the audtion and know what I want...

Umm, not really. The only "problem" with City is that there are tons of one scene parts, but the ensemble as a whole is maybe in 5 scenes total, usually 4. The opening can have everyone, a song that takes place on the streets of LA tends to have the whole ensemble as well, 2 party scenes and the last scene as well. Margaret, The Stand In, The Hairdresser and Margie are each bit parts and are in one scene each, maybe each has 3 or 4 lines at the most. I would go for Alaura, I mean, what do you have to loose?

there are four female leads:
gabby/bobbi
avril/mallory
donna/oolie
carla/alaura
the first three are big singers. say carla/alaura for who you want. the other parts are just walk-ons. it's a show of leads. the ensemble doesn't really do anything at all. so you have to go for one of those four. go to www.musicalheaven.com to find out more

Haha, yeah. God, I am listening to it right now. I want Roundabout to do it so badly for fall of 2006....

And give Sondheim musicals a rest for a season or two, and give some recognition to the late and great Cy Coleman
sooo sick of sondhiem... You have no idea... I love the music in this show... I really wanna be the maid... I know thats awful but I do... at least it could be a cool french maids costume... or somthing.

Cool, well, put that down. Madam Margie has the most lines (6 i think), she is the owner of a whorehouse, cool little part
is the the movie version of the maid?!
The more importent question for u guys (cause you know the show much better then me) what should I say I wanna be for somone that shoudln't expect too much, can't sing, but has ALOT of character and can both act and dance well.

Hmmm? The Maid is in the movie version, yes, and then usually, she is doubled as the Stand-In in real life, which appears in the last scene
so just write:
I wanna be the maid!
who is the lady that owns the whorehouse?
I love the show.. but i'm very confused
just saw pics... Margie is the whorehouse owner.... I wanna be her... and she doesn't sing?

NO, none of the smaller parts sing a solo, although, everybody sings in the party scene. It is really easy though...

no. only the four i listed sing. it's fine if that's who you want to be, but i would say (from a director's standpoint) to put one of the main four down, because otherwise it looks like you have no ambition and have already given up. i really think carla/alaura is the character for you.
