Classic and Modern Musicals

I am doing a speech comparing and contrasting Classic and Modern musicals. I have a few questions...

1. What do you think the great classic musicals are?
2. What do you think was the first Modern "Rock" musical?
3. What do you think are some of the major differences bewteen the two?

Please no stupid sarcastic answers!

These are not opinion questions. You can find lists of classic musicals in numerous sources. Question 2 has an actual answer (or at the very least you can find the answer from many critics), and question 3 is an analytical question that as a student you should be answering on your own. These aren't "opinion" questions at all.

As a teacher myself, I find it irresponsible and inappropriate to ask for answers like this on a message board. If a student of mine came back with answers culled from a message board, I would fail him for not doing his own research.

There are plenty of available resources to find the answers out. Do the research, and don't look for others to provide you with them.

There is more than just 'rock' musicals. To consider 'modern' musicals you have to look at composers like Sondheim and Kander & Ebb.

At least start with Hair...

Thank you for your opion, while I think you are wrong. I wanted theater lovers ideas and I figured this would be the best way.
