Posted: 6/23/07 at 10:56pmI wouldn't be surprised if Drowsy does some stunt casting for maybe The Chaperone or Mrs. Tottendale (Joanne Worley doesn't count) just to get a bump at the box office. I mean, I know it already recouped but it still wouldn't be surprising.

ACL isn't going anywhere, anytime soon. As said before, it has already recouped and is very cheap to run. ACL needs a weekly gross of just $400K to break even. And judging by it's nice summer grosses($630K this past week), it's not closing for a while.
And I'm suprised we haven't seen Beauty & the Beast extend. Just through Labor Day and then bump the start of The Little Mermaid by three weeks.
Rent does need to close!!!

Posted: 6/30/07 at 1:05amBeauty won't extend. Hairspray will be around for another year. Curtains will at least stay open a year from it's opening date. LB is doing great and will definitely last the year and probably more. Xanadu is going to be a hit, not going to leave anytime soon. Drowsy's numbers are not good, it's possible it could go by the end of 2007. Les Miz continues to sell out or close to it most nights, and a lot of the cast is working for minimum. (By the way Chip Zien started tonight and was....ok-forgot some words here and there) Chicago is going nowhere at all. Grey Gardens will close at the end of the summer I think. And RENT's closing date can't come soon enough in my opinion.

I hope rent closes, not that i think it's a bad show or hate it but i just think that when adam and anthony are done it should bow out, for a few years now it's just sort of become very manufactured.

Posted: 6/30/07 at 2:38amWhen Cam mac extended Les Miserables the first time around he saidt that depending on ticket saes he would eiather make it open ended or extend it again. I do think that with the way tickets are being soldto this show that it willl be a long open ended run before you know it.

Posted: 6/30/07 at 2:42amHeard a rumor today that Grey Gardens got their notice and the show will be closing on July 29th when Mary Louise Wilson was planning on leaving. This true?

Posted: 6/30/07 at 4:08amfrom what I heard yes. Apparently someone who works at the theatre has confirmed this. Still, there has been no "official" report. Very sad, I love that show.

RENT wont be closing anytime soon at all.
After adam and anthony, Harley and Dec from this past MEGA HIT tour will be taking over the respective roles of Mark and Roger.

I was hoping Grey Gardens could last until October when Christine's contract ends. I'm sad that it's going to be gone by the end of July. It's one of my favorite shows. But eh... the Tony boost is going to wear off soon, and I guess it's better to exit with a bang rather than flounder for a few more months.

I want 110 to be extended too.
Right now, at this moment, we have a gorgeous VARIETY of shows on Broadway. I pray that the atmosphere stays similar as we move into the Fall.

So many of these shows can't close soon enough.
It is such a sad sad state of Musical Theatre when shows are running for over 5 years in abundance. As sad as I am to see Beauty go, I'm glad something new is coming in. At this point, I don't even care what that new thing is. Take out Phantom and put in a new ALW show. Take out Beauty & put in a new Disney show. take out rent and put in a new show. It doesn't matter, It is just so disappointing how long these shows are running for.
And how often they come back. Did ACL need to be revived so quickly? Did Les Miserables? Will Phantom EVER leave? I mean, I look at the length of a run Dirty Rotten Scoundrels or Light in the Piazza had. That sounds like a perfect length, and then time for some new blood.
Three years tops would be nice, but I guess we'll never see that again.

Grey Gardens will probaly not be closing until Christine leaves. They are also aren't going to close so soon because it's opening in London and the New York run won't end until the one in London opens in my opinion.
