Very small budget which, luckily, doesn't need to cover costumes since these are simple, from-our-wardrobe pieces. Most props and set pieces come from previous shows and, if I choose to, I can design it myself.
Lighting design is done by our resident though.

Lucky.
We get a small budget that includes everything except royalties. So the first part is dividing up the budget to the differentdesigners. Which is the other thing - having to deal with designers... especially when some like your ideas and others don't really care and will do what they want.
It is a great learning expierence, however. And when you are forced to change things because it doesn't fit the budget.
The biggest thing is the shows in the black box are free admission. So we don't make anything back, really.
(Just wondering how your school did things...)
