Did anyone know that Colm Wilkinson played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar?! I would DIE to hear him sing that role in the score!
You can hear him sing Gethsemane at www.evangrubbs.com/gethsemane.html
It's pretty decent. I think he could have sang it a lot better.
But I'd LOVE to hear him as Judas!
I'm guessing your a fan of Colm's Seany? No, I never knew he was in Jesus Christ Superstar!! He's been in so many shows!!
He sang Gethsemane as well in the ALW-MUSIC OF THE NIGHT concert tour...it was the Act One finale and it was thrilling.
He played Judas early 70's in Dublin, and then in the West End, btw...
I love Colm's voice as well. I used to idolize him, I still do. He has one of the most thrilling male voices I have ever heard. So much power and emotion when he sings. His version of "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess is phenomenal - although I wish he didn't try to emulate a Black Southern accent, because it wasn't working. But after you get past that, his rendition is very good.
I would have loved to hear him sing the role of Judas. Can you just imagine his powerful voice singing "Heaven on their Minds" Oh wow.....Alright, I have done enough raving about Colm today.

I love Colm, to me, he's the ulitimate Valjean. His Che is interesting, but he would be kinda scary as judas, i dunno...
I sure DO love Colm! He is by far the ultimate Valjean and I love his Phantom a lot too. Even though for some reason...I think he may have been sick when he recorded The Original Canadian Cast Recording. Still sounds good though.
I would LOVE to hear that man belt out HOTM and that solo in Everything's Alright. Damned for All Time would be really interesting too! The only song I can't picture him singing from that show is the title song. But I'm sure he did it wonderfully.
