What are the chances that LaChanze stays in Color Purple and Michael and Patti stay in Sweeney till December?

I would think Michael and Patti would stay until December, especially if they win at the Tonys. They may take a vacation for a month, but I would think they would come back.

Seriously, there is no way to know if these actors are going to renew their contracts. I'd think that LaChanze is probably a safer bet than Patti, but that is assuming she signed a traditional 1 year contract for the run initially which I am not sure of.

Tickets are available for Sweeney through December, but I believe it was originally slated for a shorter run and I want to say I read on here in another thread that Patti's initial contract was up sometime this summer. I know she is doing Gypsy in Chicago in August for 3 days, but she may just take a week or so off from Sweeney during that period.

You could always write a letter to the actresses care of the theatre with a S.A.S.E enclosed asking them if they know if they'll still be around in December. It could be a long shot that you get a response, but it's worth a shot.

But, as has been said many times before, Patti is already negotiating to extend and most likely will. She'll take off in August for Gypsy, obviously, but she's said that she wishes to renew once her contract is up. I can see her being there until December, but who can say for sure other than Patti?

I don't know about Michael, but I have trouble imagining him leaving before Patti, so maybe him too.
