It may be a little weird... but whenever i need cheering up, I listen to Drood! I wish Rupert Holmes had written more scores... Also my friend has The Magic Show on vinyl and sometimes we put that on... which is pretty darn cool!

legallysam- I feel the same way too. LB always does the trick!

I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&. "Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."

What a great thread!

For me, CAROUSEL (both original cast and soundtrack recordings) always works. I never tire of hearing the OBCR's of MY FAIR LADY and GYPSY and SOUND OF MUSIC and the soundtracks of CALL ME MADAM and PAJAMA GAME. I grew up with these albums so they are like old friends to me.

Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

Faith Prince's rendition of Bushel and a Peck always makes me want to dance-and I'm a guy.

I agree with Legally Blonde. Whenever it's a nice day out, i'll jump in my car, roll down the windows, and just drive and blast it. it's so much fun.

And whenever I need an emotional release, i'll put on The Last 5 Years. that show is just a rollercoaster. I can cry and laugh all within the same song.

Three that always perk me up are Zanna, Don't!, the West End South Pacific revival with Lauren Kennedy, and A Chorus Line.

I love The Last 5 Years and it's perfect to listen to feel happy, sad, an entire range of emotions. I have discovered, however, that I can't listen to "Nobody Needs to Know" whenever I'm on my way somewhere, especially work. It makes me angry, and I'm in a bad mood afterward.

In Trousers, Merrily, and Elegies A Song Cycle are comforting to me because I've been listening to them since I was a kid and yet they still make me feel.
