I'll be in New York City next Wednesday and Thursday, which happily allows me to take in three Broadway shows. I've already seen most of the mainstays (some several times) and want to see some of the smaller shows and musicals. I perused the list of shows, and here is what interested me the most. I'm devastated to see there are no South Pacific tickets available (and it appears to be sold out for months to come) and was wondering if there was any other way to procure tickets for that show other than through the Web site or through calling the establishment.

Anyway, I need your advice. I'm hoping for one play, one musical and the third whichever you think is best.

And guys, can we keep it to recommendations for once? No "I can't believe you think [insert show here] would be a good show!" or "Seven of the shows on your list represent two-and-a-half hours in the ninth circle of hell Dante never got around to writing about!"

So which three would you pick?

PLAYS
Boeing-Boeing
November
The Country Girl

MUSICALS
Cry Baby
In the Heights
Xanadu

In The Heights
Xanadu
...

And I've only seen November from the plays and wasn't overly impressed, so I have no opinion there. Sorry.

I would definitely skip Cry-Baby

South Pacific has cancellation tickets. Check out these threads:

From your list: Boeing Boeing, In The Heights, and Xanadu. I can't recommend Cry-Baby for someone who only has a limited amount of time in NY.

in the heights is a must see.
Don't waste your time or money on crybaby
I love Xanadu but idk if it's your sense of humor.

Go see in the heights, it really isn't to be missed.

Not sure whether Thursday matinees for A Catered Affair will have begun by then - check it out.

Never mind - matinees begin on July 3rd.

MUST SEES:
In the Heights
Boeing Boeing

Third place tied - Xanadu and November. - you can't go wrong with either but looking back I'd rather see November again, Nathan Lane was brilliant.

Of the 6 shows you listed Id say Boeing Boeing, Xanadu and In The Heights. However I would go see Gypsy.
