#1Coming to NYC in June - what to see??

Hi all... I'm coming to NYC at the beginning of June from the UK, and was wondering what musicals are likely to be good to see then?? I go to a lot of shows in London, so would really prefer to see something that I can't see over here...

Is the Addams Family likely to be good? I've heard mixed things, and it seems pretty easy to get tickets (on Ticketmaster at least), so I was wondering if it's going to bomb??

All help very gratefully received!!

Hey Bill732 - welcome to the board!

If you're looking to see shows not in London and/or not likely to get to the West End - I would recommend The Addams Family soley based on the cast (I'm not seeing it until March here in NY). I would also recommend getting tickets for Promises, Promises again because of Chenowith and Sean Hayes (loved the show when I saw it in its original run).

Not on sale yet, but should be open in April are also Come Fly Away (Twyla Tharp's Sinatra dance show a la Movin' Out) and Green Day's American Idiot.

I'll be in London 3rd week of April w/ tix for Priscilla, Love Never Dies and Sister Act (so far!)

'addams family' has gotten pretty bad word of mouth from chicago, but 'american idiot' should be good. other non london shows i would recommendd

musicals:
-fela!
-rock of ages (goofy, but fun)
-in the heights (if you haven't seen it yet)

plays:
-behanding in spokane (love mcdonagh)
-fences (great cast)

"the stage too must experiment - with ideas, with the psychological relationship of men and women, with speech and rhythm forms, with dance and movement, with color and light - or it must and should become a museum product. in an age of terrific implications as to wealth and poverty, as to the function of government, as to peace and war, as to the relation of the artist to all these forces, the theatre must grow up. the theatre must become conscious of the implications of the changing social order, or the changing social older will ignore, and rightly, the implications of the theatre." - hallie flanagan, director of the federal theatre project

I saw "The Addams Family" in Chicago (an early preview) with a packed house that responded VERY enthusiastically, and have friends in Chicago who were not able to buy tickets late in the run. It is a very exciting show. Nathan Lane is FANTASTIC.

I'm also excited about "Come Fly Away" and "American Idiot" but I have not seen them.
