Coming to NYC, need advice, please!

Hello!

I'm coming for a few weeks to visit my daughter, and I'm going to see

Sly Fox (I love Dreyfuss and Eric Stoltz!)
Wicked (I love Joel Grey and Chenowith!)
Avenue Q (I love kooky puppets!)

I can afford maybe three other shows- any advice?

Thanks!

I Am My Own Wife is wonderful acting so if you enjoy plays it is a wise choice.
John Simon adored Bug- I have not seen it yet. Dying to see it.

Judging from the shows for which you've already purchased tickets, and trying to give you some variety in what you see, i recommend:
1. Hairspray
2. Rent
3. Blue Man Group
as your three choices. If you've already seen one, or are not interested in seeing one, as a backup I recommend:
4. Chicago
5. The Producers (however, understand it is not the same w/o Nathan and Matthew)
6. Stomp (actually, if you decide not to see Blue Man or Rent, this is your best substitution variety-wise)

SecondActor, what type of shows do you like? Which ones have you liked in the past?

I definitely say Mamma Mia!

I'd suggest Aida, depending on who's in the cast that day. I've heard Deborah Cox is amazing. And if your daughter is a student, she can buy two discounted student tickets on the morning of the show for $25/person! (Even if the second person isn't a student!)

no offense but Mamma Mia is not a top show.
It is a lot of fun but the story is FLUFF.
It is a great time but if you only have a few days here i would suggest seeing truly wonderful theater.

True, Mamma Mia's not exactly quality, it's more fluff entertainment. Depends what you're looking for at the time, I suppose.

Am maybe interested in catching Avenue Q when I go to NYC next month...but is it really good?? I just have this impression of a show about...puppets...?

Speaking of good inexpensive Rent tickets, are the partial viewing seats in the orchestra heinous? I've never seen the show before (just heard the music for the last 7 years!) so I wanna know what I'll be missing.

Thanks!

PS. Is it easy to get tix to Avenue Q?

Tiff..tickets for Avenue Q are available through Telecharge. I just checked a couple random April dates. Sat. night the 9th had two seats in the orchestra, row Q and on Tues. night the 12th two seats in row D. So, yeah...guess seats are out there to be had pretty easily.
