I don't think the puppets look that bad.
This community is lucky to have a local group doing material like this instead of Grease, Sound of Music...and so on.

Posted: 2/16/08 at 7:31pmOh we get plenty of that too. But Kalamazoo is a pretty great place for theatre considering our size and area. We have the Civic, the New Vic, the Barn and Western Michigan University which has an excellent musical theatre department.

Posted: 2/16/08 at 10:00pmSomething about the idea of community theatre Avenue Q still scares me. Possibly because I do build and perform puppets so I understand what a labor-intensive process it is, not sure how many others do. I am glad that Rick Lyon said he is working to make quality puppets available for rental because I do agree those puppets look pretty bad. I am familiar with Cheryl Blaylock's work as a puppeteer so I am sure that she did the best she could to improve those puppets. Hmm they still look a little "special" though. I have tickets to Ave Q tour in May. I can't wait!
