Hi there,
I'm playing Harry in Company in a couple of weeks and I'm having trouble placing the final "nothing to do with, all to do with HER" in my voice. I'm a light baritone, and the word is sung on a D, which is supposed to be sung softly. The problem is, I have to belt a D to achieve clarity, and it is too low to place it in my falsetto. Right now I need some help. I can't often get it right. I need some advice before I perform it on stage so I can feel comfortable with it. I don't want it to be a gamble.
Thanks.

Have you tried to do the d in head voice, and slowly fade into chest?
If not, try that.
Also, warming up to an E in full voice, will help get that d better.
Sometime, try to see how low your head (falsetto) can go. You'll be surprised.
I would also try to tape myself. Sometimes a note can sound AWFUL to you, but will actually resonate really well.
Good luck!!!

Try modifying the vowel fromthe "er" which is just about a "u" sound as in "put" but replace it with a Umlaut U sound as in the German word "Fur" (put an Umlaut over the u)
It lets you get more resonance on that vowel.
If you sing a pure U umlaut, it should work perfectly.
