"Constantine Maroulis, the “American Idol” finalist currently in The Wedding Singer, will enter the four-member cast after the first of the year, replacing Jim Stanek, who will play Paul in the Kennedy Center’s four-week revival of Carnival, which will start rehearsing Jan. 16."

Here is the quote from the Playbill article.

Well, in theory, Matthew Saldivar was supposed to return to The Wedding Singer, but, sadly, I'm thinking the show might just be closing altogether.
Although I think The Wedding Singer is going to be closed by New Years, I don't think this has anything to do with that.

Maroulis said in a Village Voice interview a few weeks ago that he wanted to do Jacques Brel..., so I'm not really suprised in the least.

There have been rumors flying about from various sources that the show is likely to close in early January.
		     			Mixed feelings......
Will be quite interesting to see his take on all those songs, but hope there's a way for TWS to continue also..... Mainly 'cause I haven't seen it yet!!! <---ulterior motive...

My God, why is he suddenly everywhere?

I know, I know, he's talented and charming and gooorgeous, blah blah blah. It just seems like after he was at the Nederlander for Rent 10, he's all over the NYC theater radar.

He is everywhere. Yes, I am a bit prejudiced.

He's talented, enigmatic, and finally getting some good breaks.

He's hot-in more ways than one.

Well, I don't think he's devoid of talent. I just don't get why he's suddenly NYC theater's golden boy. Oh well. As long as he doesn't get cast as Roger again... because if that happens, I'll cry.

I get it. His voice is GOLDEN! He can act. He can dance a bit. He has charisma. He is a nice guy, well-liked by peers. He is making the right connections. What else should there be?

Constantine said he was offered Brel at the same time as the Wedding Singer. He chose to do the Wedding Singer at the time. He's done pretty well as Sammy. I've heard good things about his performance, not just from his fans, either. I saw him, too. I liked his performance a lot.

I'm glad he still has the opportunity to do Jacques Brel. I can't wait to see him again.

I think everyone is forgetting the ACTUAL good news in this article: Jacques Brel will STILL be alive and well in 2007.
The guy does have a very good voice. I saw him in Wedding Singer and liked him there. But then I heard him sing on Monday night at the Actor's Fund benefit show. He showed a lot more of what he's got there. Good strong voice that can hold notes with no sweat.

I'm looking forward to seeing him in JB.

Because I wasn't aware that he was a decent actor.

PS, the answer to my own question, above all else, is his fame. Your list would probably mean nada if he weren't Constantine of American Idol.

Anyway, whatever. If he's got what it takes, I wish him well.

		     			Hope he's good.
That's all I can say, he pleasantly suprised me in TWS.

I guess now I will be going to see Brel. The wife dragged me to Wedding Singer to see Constantine and I was pleasantly surprised. So was the couple with us.

The guys good.

I can't see him in this role at all. Drew was great and I am going to see Jim but I just can't picture Constantine in this role. At least it's not like they are kicking Jim out and he has another job lined up.
I'm still convinced he's stalking me.

He's everywhere. I see him more than I see my immediate family.

And I don't even live in the city.

Subject: Jacques Brel Update - from Constantine's Team

We have received the following clarification from Constantine' s team about the recent article in Playbill.com (regarding Jacques Brel):

"Constantine has met with director and loves the show but there's no
deal at this point."
-----------------------------------------------
This is reliable information. Apparently, playbill is jumping the gun. As much as I would love to see him in this show, we want to make sure the info is correct. Hopefully, it will become a reality soon.
