Constantine stops the show, while Laura is left cold in the Wedding Singer — Page 2

I happen to love her voice but she can't seem to sustain it.

I got to see Tina and Kevin as Julia and Robbie and am looking forward to seeing Laura and Stephen doing those roles.
Going at the end of the month.

You obviously have no idea what good acting is.
Laura's voice is superb and her acting in this part is impeccable. She's sweet, caring, funny and has the ability to bring one to tears with her ability to convey heartbreak.
When I saw the show with Tina I relied on the other cast member to keep me awake she was so bland.
Not going back to the theatre?
Too bad. So sad. I'm over it. And, I'm sure they all care.

ive never seen Tina in the role, but Laura was great, in my opinion
she was cute, funny, and has a beautiful voice
Laura was my mom's favorite person in the show, she could not stop raving about Laura
and she was one of my favorite people in it, too
so yeah, i am definitely going to go to the show again to see Laura and the rest of the talented cast!
:)

I never said she was bad singer, in fact I said she was good singer, but just had some breathing issues.
And for the acting, we all have different opinions on the role.
Posted: 10/15/06 at 10:09am
Her breathing techniques allow her to add more power to her notes than Tina ever could. When I saw Tina in the role her voice was so timid and her notes would trail off.
Laura delivers her notes with power and pitch. She is possible one of the best female vocalists on Broadway right now.
And her acting is top notch.
I brought a girl to see the show with Tina and she left unimpressed. When I finally coaxed her into going back to see it with Laura...the moment she walked out of the theatre she said: "Now, that's how that role is supposed to be played."

So, I'm not alone on this one.

So, neither am I alone in this.
I'll stick with the twice TONY nominated actress.

EDIT: Its not like she was nominated for this role, was she?
Maybe she just needs some time to get back into the swing of everything. I don't know, I'm not her so I can't speak fo her. I never said she was just awful, she just didn't amaze me.

I'm just sayin'...

I could not disagree with you more.

Laura is not Laura on the stage. She's Julia. Everything about her. Her sweetness, her comic timing, her quirkiness and even her relationship with her mother (in the few short scenes she shares with Adinah) and even with Rita just flow so naturally. I feel like I'm really watching a girl open up in front of me.
With Tina...I knew it was Tina. Her comic timing was forced and I hardly laughed. All her scenes just fell flat for me. Which is funny because I've loved her in other things I've seen with her. But with this show, I just don't believe it. She's a fine standby...but it's obvious why she's the standby.
This is not meant to diss her in any way, so don't take it as such. She's a sweet girl and a fine performer. But I've seen the show enough times with both of them to know which one I think is superior in the role.

I'm giving you an adult view of my opinions and you just can't seem to register that I have a different view point than you.
I'm sorry but it's true.
You're absolutely childish.

Actors who originate roles are lucky. They automatically have a following. Standbys, understudies and swings need to prove themselves (some never do). Tina proved herself each and every night and captured the hearts of many during her tenure as Julia. Hey, if Tina sucked there wouldn't be this controversy. I'm just sayin'...

ditto! i LOVE her isntincts that she has on stage AS julia! it is SOO ADORABLE! plus shes a frickin sweetheart! LAURA IS JUST AMAZING!!
and im sorry, but i watched a vid of tina singing someday and as soon as i heard a country accent, i was dont with that. she was a good singer, but a country accent does not fit the role. does she actually do that for the show?
