Anyone know of a good contemporary monologue 2 min or less in length for an audition (Interlochen..yes, sorry for the many posts about it)..or a book where I can find a contemporary monologue?

I'm guessing the monologue from St. Joan (where she's about to die..I did it for my Julius Ceasar audition) wouldn't be contemporary huh? lol

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

Look into Christopher Durang.

Laughing Wild has some great monologues, and really any of his other plays are great. (Marriage of Bette and Boo, 'Dentity Crisis, ect ect)

David Ives is a wonderful playwright also. He has a book of short plays called "All In the Timing"...you may be able to find something in there.

If neither of these work try: The Art of Dining (?), Plaza Suite (Neil Simon) , No Exit (Sartre), Nuts (Tom Toper), Romantic Comedy (?), Invisible Friends (?).
There are a lot of great sites with monologues on them, also.

I've done the Saint Joan monologue before and it went over really well. If you can't find anything, I think that would be a good choice.

Thanks! :)

Is St. Joan considered 'contemporary' though?

Oh good point. Probably not.

Thats where I get a lot of my monologues. Its a homemade site, yes, but whoever runs it puts a lot of good selections on there.
