Contracts for Stand Bys??

How long are contracts for stand bys in Broadway shows? In particular, I was wondering about the standby contract for Tracy in Hairspray as this is the only thing this actress does - I don't believe there is an ensemble track for her.

There is no standard amount of time for a standby's contract. Depends on the show's policies, et cetera.

Most standbys only understudy the one role. Some, however, may cover one or two others as well for good measure. For example, Shoshana Bean was the standby for Idina Menzel, but she also understudied Nessa.
