Hi everyone!!! Next Friday I heading off to this youth leadership convention thing, so in the evening there's a getting-to-know-you dance. The theme for the dance is Broadway shows, and I'm unsure of what to wear. I want something that's fairly easy to pull together or finds parts to, but also original. Any thoughts?

What are your favorite shows?

What do you have on hand?

What were you thinking when you said yes to this? re: Costume ideas!!!

Do you play an instrument? Dress in black and be a 'Company' cast member. Unless I get any better ideas, I'm totally going to be Marta next time a fancy dress costume is called for. :3 (Shame none of the girls play clarinet, it'd be so much more portable than my violin...)

My favorite shows are Les Miz, Miss Saigon, Annie, and Fiddler on the Roof.

I have odd garmets here and there, but all I really need are some ideas, because I'm pretty good at sewing.
And to answer your last question, I agreed before I knew about the dance :)

Yeah, I play the saxophone! Sadly, it's not really portable either. Lucky flute and clarinet players...

I was thinking of dressing as Eponine, but I'm worred there will be twenty others wearing the same thing.

You go with bullet holes.

Fiddler would be very easy to do...long skirt with a plain apron, a modest long-sleeved blouse, and your hair tied up under a kerchief. Les Miz is almost the same thing, except you add cleavage and lose the apron and kerchief. Daddy Warbucks...that would be interesting...but if you are trying to get to know these people, you might not want to cross dress.

Why don't you go to the Dance dressed as CARRIE?

NAKED BOYS SINGING is an easy one.

Can it be a more general Broadway costume? Perhaps a chorus girl, for example.

Eponine is also easy but might be overdone.

What are you looking for? Something sparkly?
