Could someone please recommend audition songs?

I have auditions for Little Shop of Horrors and Sweeney Todd coming up, and I need help finding audition songs. I'm very new to picking my own audition songs. I'm afraid I'm not much good at it. I will need two since they are at two separate theaters and at different times. I am a nearly 14 year old female, and I am a mezzo/alto.

Hello, do you know which characters you're going to be trying to audition for in each show? Without knowing the specifics...

For Little Shop, I would look into Motown songs, other Alan Menken songs, and some big ballads if you're going for Audrey. Try to find something that shows off your voice that you think you could perform well. Maybe take a look at Hairspray and The Marvelous Wonderettes too.

For Sweeney Todd, I would look into other Sondheim shows, especially to prove you can do a patter song. The slower stuff is mostly for the guys. If you're a mezzo/alto, I'm guessing you're not going for Johanna. I think Into The Woods might be the best place to look. Possibly Company if you're creative. You can interpret a song differently to convey how you would play the character.

But there are no rules. You could do Adelaide's Lament and if you sell it and they like you, they'll call you back.

Thank you for your input! I'm going for Mrs. Lovett, rather than Johanna. I used your advice, and I think that I am going to use The Miller's Son for my Sweeney audition and Good Morning Baltimore for Little Shop. I know that Good Morning Baltimore is rather often used, but I know it well and feel more secure doing it than Take Me or Leave Me, which was another option I was considering.

Why do you need two different songs if the auditions are for different creative teams at two, different theaters? Under those conditions, it seems one song would suffice.

However I can understand you want different songs because the shows are so different.

If you are going to sing "The Miller's Son", it had better be the best rendition ever given. I would call that song "iconically difficult".
