After 24 years of marriage, my wife finally got me to NYC and 2 Broadway shows (Jersey Boy's & Chicago) in June. I'm now hooked. We're going back Sept 10th to see Wicked. My novice questions are these:
1. On days where there are matinee's do the lead performers usually do both shows and if not , which do they most commonly do? We have matinee tickets and are really hoping to see Teal Wicks perform.
2. To the people who have done the "Beyond the Emerald Curtain" on Saturday mornings, do you reccomend it?
Thanks for you help.

1: Both leading girls at this point (Teal Wicks, Katie Rose Clarke) usually do the show's if they are well. So you most likely will get the leading Elphaba. Katie Rose who plays Glinda tends to take matinees off if needed so maybe you'll get a understudy or the standby

2: If you are a general fan of WICKED or of Broadway, you may enjoy the Behind the Emerald Curtain. Mind you, it's not like you go backstage and see all the sets/props/mechanics and stuff, its more like they have a museum of WICKED things in the Lobby and the two men talk about that stuff and explain the ins and outs about Broadway costumes/props. Then you are ushered into the Auditorium and watch a presentation about the show and a Q and A session.

Well then, welcome to the club! I hope there will be many more shows in your future!

1. Like FingerLakesSinger said, the leads usually do both shows. After all, it is their job to perform!

2. Behind the Emerald curtain is a nice treat. You'll see some really neat costumes and props up close. The guys that lead the presentation are members of the Wicked ensemble. They'll talk about their experience with the show and answer any and all Wicked/Broadway questions.

Sounds like a fun day in the city!

^Laura Woyasz.

She's on more often than not, now. KRC's attendance is really atrocious.

Does anyone know why her attendance is so poor? When she was in the tour her attendance was terrible too.

I saw a Saturday matinee in April, and both Teal Wicks and Katie Rose Clarke were out. But their standbys were really good, so I think you'll enjoy the show regardless of whether you see Wicks/Clarke or the standbys.

As for Behind the Emerald Curtain, keep in mind that it's not a backstage tour. I have not done it myself, but I think you'll find it enjoyable and informative.

bwayphreak I dont think her attendance was that poor on tour. It may have towards the end of her run but for the most part she was reliable. However Broadway was a different story. But that was due to illness or an injury cuz she took that break a few months ago but since then she has been pretty good.

^ I saw it toward the end of her time in the tour which probably explains the attendance.

Apparently, Donna Vivino will be doing a limited engagement as standby before she gets promoted to lead once Teal leaves so if on the matinee Teal does not perform, you most definitely won't be disappointed if you have the most amazing Elphaba ever, Donna Vivino. I know you want to see Teal but I have seen Teal and Donna and Donna just blew me away even more than Teal so trust me whoever you have, you will be alright even the understudy Stephanie Torns. Saw her too, AMAZING as well.

As for the Behind the Emerald Curtain tour, there is honestly nothing too special about it. If you haven't seen the show it's not worth it. If you have seen the show, then you might like it. I kind of thought it was a waste of money unless you have some pretty good questions to ask to a swing or an old ensemble member.

I saw Laura Woyasz, the standby for Glinda, and thought she was fantastic, so even if you don't see KRC it'll probably be great!
