Kelli O'Hara would have been all wrong for Polly. The character needs a strong belt, which O'Hara admits herself is the last thing in her repetoire (she joked with Seth Rudetsky recently about how she doesn't understand why she keeps getting cast in roles that require belting when it's the one thing she can't do.)
That being said, I
do think Laura Osnes is a pitch perfect choice for Polly in a revival of the show. Get Stroman to re-mount it and cast Colin Donnell as Bobby, Katie Finneran as Irene, and Michael McGrath as Bela Zangler and you're in business.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
