It's hard for me to be objective cause I'm involved with the show and all, but I think this is a damn good, well-cast production of a very hard show. It premiered Sunday at 5pm and has its last performance Monday at 8 at the Kimmel Center, next to Washington Square Park. And it's free!

"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" is a Dale Wasserman stage version of Ken Kesey's novel. The book was also made into the famous 1975 film starring Jack Nicholson. Protagonist Randle P. McMurphy is a charming rogue who contrives to serve a short sentence in an airy mental institution rather than a prison. This, he learns, was a mistake. He clashes with the domineering Nurse Ratched, who runs her ward with an iron fist. The tables begin to turn when McMurphy starts to lead her fearful patients out of introversion, stages a revolt to watch the World Series on television, and arranges a rollicking midnight party. But who will win in the end - McMurphy or the Big Nurse?

Just to clarify, this is not within the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, though its in the same huge glass building. Go to the Kimmel Center entrance, which is on 4th street and La Guardia Place, say you're there for Cuckoo's Nest, and go to the 4th floor.
